Fourth annual Indoor Sports Car Race a huge success!
In 2003, an indoor car race for all types of motors was organized at the Race-Inn, a go-cart centre in Roggwil, a little village in the Canton of Bern. As a joke, the date of the original competition was set for April 1st. And despite initial hesitation and uncertainty whether the event was a legitimate car race or just a bad joke, the race did take place and has continued to do so since then.
The indoor race at Race-Inn is a fun event which takes place once a year. The race is designed to enable the widest range of cars imaginable (from powerful and spectacular to historically rare and valuable) to compete. Each car starts individually and the aim of the game is to clock the fastest round. Anything and everything goes; this year Formula One cars, sports cars, touring cars and rally cars were all present and continually trying to outdo each other on the track.
Rainer Küschall was invited to attend this year’s event and decided to participate in the race as well. Of course he drove his HS Cobra and gave his opponents quite a run for their money. He came in a respectable 11th place out of the 20 participants.
The 2006 event was a huge success, with over 1000 spectators who came to spend their evening at the track and watch the spectacle. The atmosphere was incredible; the race itself is not meant to be seriously competitive as such. And although there was a first place, this year it was Jo Brunner, nobody lost out. Every driver gave a brilliant performance and both the drivers and the viewers used the time to really enjoy themselves.
