Rainer’s race in Anneau du Rhin

On August 5th 2006, the time had come to allocate some more points for the British Sports Car Cup 2006; this time in the pouring rain. True sportsmen and fans at heart, everyone trekked to the race-track of Anneau du Rhin, which is situated in the idyllic Alsatian part of France, to battle out the next stage of the Cup. There however, the avid racers were greeted with a torrential downpour and no indication of a reprieve. It was very clear to everyone involved that a hard race was not to be avoided.
Especially the race for the classification group Cubic Capacity Large was turned into a delicate affair by the bad weather. Lots of driving sensibility was needed to keep the cars with 350 and up to 450 hp on the wet and slippery racetrack.
Last year Rainer was able to cause a sensation with his win in Dijon when similar weather conditions ruled the race track; he left all the Horsepower giants behind him, even the 4x4 four-wheel-drive Ford Escort Cosworth. This time round however, at the racetrack Anneau du Rhin, Rainer wasn’t able to keep up in the rain with the almost 500 hp strong four-wheel-drive and had to clearly relinquish the weekend’s win to his rival. Nevertheless, the end result was a good one for Rainer, despite having missed out on a victory and he remained on the podium; with his second place, he beat both last years winner and this year’s favourite.
The Küschall team would like to congratulate Rainer on his great result. It’s turning out to be a great season and we hope to see many more podium positions this year!
