“I can do everything that everyone else does until the opposite is proven”
Roy Nexbakken was born with a passion for cars. So it’s no coincidence that when he chose his wheelchair he decided on the Küschall R33, a dedication to Rainer Küschall and his 33 car racing victories.
Already before Roy’s injury he was a racing car driver and during the winter 2007/08 he worked as a handicap consultant during the Rally Norway. It was while watching television that Roy realized he wouldn’t have to give up his passion due to his injury when he saw programme introducing a specially adjusted car which would allow him to race despite his disability. He decided then and there that this car was something he needed to have. His determination did not go unrewarded and very soon he received a sponsorship from Møller US Import, the company which supplied him with his Neon car. Today he drives as often as possible and is an active participant in the Norwegian Car-racing Championship.
Roy is a man with a great sense for detail; his race car as well as his helmet are black and red with the R33 logo painted by hand onto the side. Next to his Küschall R33 (his favourite), Roy uses two other küschall wheelchair models, the Küschall K4 and the Küschall Airlite.
As active as they come, Roy doesn’t shy away from anything. He is demanding on his chairs in everyday life and the R33 has enabled him to broaden his activity level. He emphasises the quality of the unique LIS System, which not only lessens continual spinal shocks but offers an incomparable driving feel and performance. In addition the frame is stable on rough terrain without being hard to manage and he hasn’t been able to break any parts yet!
“It is the only chair that is good enough for my use”
