The KSL put to the test

The journalist Jens Krümmel, an experienced wheelchair driver took on our highly active wheelchair to see just what it is made of.
His report was precise and exact, telling the user exactly what they can expect from the chair. The article looked at various topics and concerns for wheelchair drivers looking to purchase a new wheelchair and tested the chair in terms of lightness, driving performance, design, quality speed, functionality, practicality and stability. Küschall® was thrilled to read his detailed report, in which he not only praised the minimal and active design but also the highly active driving performance.
A detailed insight was given to the excellent seating possibilities of the welded backrest and made to measure chair. The pros for highly active wheelchair drivers when using The KSL were explained in great detail and emphasis was given to the heightened mobility that can be achieved.

The Extremist
Extreme possibilities have to be taken into account in order to be the best in today’s world. Reporter Jens Krümmel put The KSL to the test to find out whether the completely made to measure The KSL with fixed backrest is a practical solution in daily life.
The KSL by küschall® is a rigid frame active wheelchair, measured to fit the driver to the last millimeter. The wheelchair is an extreme solution designed for the most routined, active and fit wheelchair user, who not only knows what he wants but refuses to make any compromise. It is definitely not a wheelchair for a first time wheelchair user. The KSL is an extremely light chair and the transport weight of 4.5 kg indicated by küschall® is spot on- thus enabling a possible standard configuration weight of 7kg.

Exquisite Design
The minimal design applied on The KSL is breathtaking, cool and technical. The combination of titanium (footrest), carbon (mud guards) and “black matt” frame is simple, masculine and sporty. Whoever doesn’t like the design of The KSL cannot be helped: It is impossible to create something more beautiful.
The finish is exactly as high quality as one would expect from such a chair. Only the best is good enough.

Pure fun to Drive
When put to the test The KSL also succeeded with flying colours in driving performance. It might look like it has a good driving performance, but that is nothing compared to how it feels to maneuver. Thanks to the incredible rigidity of the chair, the body and wheelchair can almost meld into one. Every tiny move and impulse given by the driver is transferred to the wheelchair, enabling not only speed but exact and precise movement. The wheelchair however is designed for daily use and shouldn’t be used for sports such as basketball. Another point is that there is not suspension, again reinforcing the fact that this chair is with the most active of users in mind.

How you measure is how you sit
The KSL is made completely to measure, not something that can be done by everyone. The driver needs to know his or her requirements before ordering this chair. But for the experienced user, who knows what they need once this chair is made it fits like a glove. Here an insider tip: The küschall® K-Series another rigid küschall® wheelchair is the perfect chair to try out seating positioning before filling out the final measurements. Measured and configured correctly the driver will sit perfectly in The KSL without any movement at all.
