Review and end of Rainer’s racing season 2004
For some races, up to 80 drivers registered and started off in 4 different engine size-classes. The organiser again arranged for a very interesting mix of mountain races at some of Switzerland’s famous venues, as well as slalom and circle track races in Germany, Italy and France. The season finished in style with the prize ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel in Egerkingen (Switzerland)!
We followed some of Rainer’s races and we can proudly say that he finished the championship with a respect! In his division, only 14 competitors of the so-called "big banger" class (motors over 2.5 litres) reached the required championship points. In the end, Rainer ranked 4th in the championship, but nevertheless, experienced a few season highlights: 2 appearances on the podium, one of which was a 1st place; and the fun “1/4 mile drag race” where he was faster than all other cobras - quite a surprising show!
This racing season found its end with a fine dinner, the prize ceremony and an evening attraction sponsored by Rainer. He offered the crowd a very special show: The world-class wheelchair dancing couple Nienke and her brother Mark Lehmann were especially flown in from Amsterdam to perform for the British Sports Car family. This surely was a real surprise for everybody! First of all, most guests we not even aware that professional wheelchair dancing existed and secondly, that it could be such an attractive and lively show!
We all wish to congratulate Rainer for his performance: Not obvious for a quadriplegic to drive a cobra racing car!
With such a competitive edge he will surely keep surprising us in private and in business with revolutionary new ideas! Let’s see what Rainer comes up with in 2005!
