Race weekend in Dijon-Prenois/France, September 4th and 5th 2004

Therefore he was unable to participate in any of the races during the summer months. The most important championship points and the hope of a podium placing in the championship were thus lost.

The first mission after the summer months took place on the famous, former F1 racecourse Dijon-Prenois. The perfectly placed race course near the historical town of Dijon has housed many famous racing drivers of times gone by and their presence is still felt everywhere.

“It was clear from the beginning that I didn’t stand a chance with my automatic-geared Cobra on this high-speed route” declared Rainer. He lost about 80m on the home stretch on which a top speed of nearly 260 kmph was reached. Even Beat Eggiman in the mega MG was forced to yield to Erich Rickenbacher’s ford GT. The 5th gear of the ex LeMans champion car could finally be put to use!

Rainer’s conclusion: “All in all, it was a perfect weekend for racing; with temperatures of around 33°C and an Indian summer atmosphere, good food, wine and comradeship. What more can a tetra wish for?”
