On pilgrimage with the KÜSCHALL COMPACT
Before his hard stroke of fate, Peter Frohn (74) was an independent businessman, who liked sports activities. He loved it to jog, to hike and to cycle.
Because of a serious brain haemorrhage, he has been bound to a wheelchair since 2012. However he had the wish to experience the Way of St. James a second time. Invacare Germany supported Peter Frohn to fulfil his wish and sponsored a küschall Compact wheelchair, which accompanied him on his pilgrimage.
On the 18th August 2015 the six-member tour group started their adventure from Porto/Portugal to Santiago de Compostela/Spain. The 250 kilometers long route was divided in 16 stages across Porto, Vila do Conde, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, Vigo, Valenca across the International Bridge to Tui, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padron to Santiago de Compostela. During three weeks, Peter Frohn and his travel companions mastered a lot of different routes for example forest paths, country lanes, federal highways, mighty slopes, cobblestoned roads and beach promenades.
On the 4th September 2015 in the afternoon the team members reached their final destination:
The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the historic district. After tears of joy, a lot of hugs and a champagne reception, Peter Frohn and his team went to the pilgrim’s office. Here they received their Compostela (the pilgrim’s certificate). The Sunday Mass, held in German, was dedicated to Peter and his travel companions, according to stories.
“ The blessing, the power, the sense of achievement and the joy we are all taking it in our everyday lifes. We are always on the way, as they say!”, said Peter Frohn.
